Get the New Pixel Launcher from Android O On Almost Any Phone

Not much has changed in the new version of the Pixel Launcher, so the biggest difference you'd notice is that you can now open the app drawer by swiping up from anywhere, as opposed to having to start your swipe from the dock at the bottom of the screen. So if you want to update your existing Pixel Launcher installation, or even if you'd just like to try it for the first time, we've got you covered.

Update (May 23, 2017): linuxct has updated this mod by porting the Pixel Launcher from the first public beta version of Android O. The basic features are all the same, but it's a slightly newer version and several bugs have been squashed, so we've linked to the new mod below.

Installing the New Pixel Launcher

First up, if you have an older version of the ported Pixel Launcher installed on your device, you'll need to uninstall it before you do anything else. As a heads up, this also includes the early leaked version, which was called "Nexus Launcher," so search through your installed apps for both names and make sure they get removed.

With that out of the way, go ahead and download the APK, which, again, should work on almost any device as long as it's running Android Marshmallow or higher.

Download the ported Pixel Launcher (.apk)

From there, just enable "Unknown sources" in Settings, then launch the APK and press "Install" when prompted. After that's done, tap your home button, then choose Pixel Launcher from the list.

If you're not rooted, that's all there is to it. Installing the Pixel Launcher without root access will give you most of the features, but note that the integrated Google page on the home screen will not be available.

If you are rooted, however, you can get the integrated Google page by converting the Pixel Launcher into a system app. To do that, install an app called Link2SD, then open it up and grant root access. From there, long press the Pixel Launcher entry in the list, then choose "Convert to System App," and reboot when prompted.

It should be noted that, while most users report that the app runs without errors, the Pixel Launcher may crash the first few times you use it, depending on your phone. If this happens, I've noticed that a quick reboot seems to clear up the problem, so it shouldn't be a long-term issue.

Regardless of how you installed it, Pixel Launcher is a sleek-looking home screen app with several unique features—most notably, an app drawer that's tucked away neatly behind the aforementioned swipe gesture, which means there's one less icon in your dock. What Is A Computer Virus?

A Computer Virus is a malicious software program “Malware” that can infect a computer by modifying or deleting data files, boot sector of a hard disk drive or causes a software program to work in an unexpected manner”.

A computer virus resides on a host computer and can replicate itself when executed. Virus can steal user data, delete or modify files & documents, records keystrokes & web sessions of a user. It can also steal or damage hard disk space, it can slowdown CPU processing.

Activation of Virus

When the computer virus starts working, it is called the activation of virus. A virus normally runs all the time in the computer. Different viruses are activated in different ways. Many viruses are activated on a certain data. For example, a popular virus “Friday, the 13^th” is activated only if the date is 13 and the day is Friday.

According to Wikipedia “Computer viruses cause billions of dollars’ worth of economic damage each year, due to causing systems failure, wasting computer resources, corrupting data, increasing maintenance costs, etc”.

Causes of Computer Virus

The following are the main causes of a Computer Virus.

Infected Flash Drives or Disks

Flash drives and disks are the main cause of spreading viruses. Flash drives and disks are used to transfer data from one computer to other. A virus can also be copied from one computer to other when the user copies infected files using flash drives and disks.

Email Attachments

Most of the viruses spread through emails. Email attachment is a file that is sent along with an email. An email may contain an infected file attachment. Virus can spread if the users opens and downloads an email attachment. It may harm the computer when it is activated. It may destroy files on the hard disk or may send the virus automatically to all email addresses saved in the address book.

Infected / Pornography websites

Thousands of insecure websites can infect computer with viruses. Most of the websites with pornographic materials are infected, so by visiting these websites the user’s computer also gets infected by virus. These websites are developed to spread viruses or other unethical material. The virus is transferred to the user’s computer when this material is downloaded. These websites may access the computer automatically when the users visit them.

Networks

Virus can spread if an infected computer is connected to a network. The internet is an example of such network. When a user downloads a file infected with virus from the internet, the virus is copied to the computer. It may infect the files stored on the computer.

Pirated Software

An illegal copy of software is called pirated software. Virus can spread if user installs pirated software that contains a virus. A variety of pirated software is available in CDs and from the internet. Some companies intentionally add virus in the software. The virus is automatically activated if the user uses the software without purchasing license.

Types of Computer Virus

The following are some well-known viruses.

CodeRed

It is a worm that infects a computer running Microsoft IIS server. This virus launched DOS attack on White House’s website. It allows the hacker to access the infected computer remotely.

Nimba

It is a worm that spreads itself using different methods. IT damages computer in different ways. It modified files, alters security settings and degrades performance.

SirCam

It is distributed as an email attachment. It may delete files, degrade performance and send the files to anyone.

Melisa

It is a virus that is distributed as an email attachment. IT disables different safeguards in MS Word. It sends itself to 50 people if Microsoft Outlook is installed..

Ripper

It corrupts data from the hard disk.

MDMA

It is transferred from one MS Word file to other if both files are in memory.

Concept

It is also transferred as an email attachment. It saves the file in template directory instead of its original location.

One_Half

It encrypts hard disk so only the virus may read the data. It displays One_Half on the screen when the encryption is half completed.

Google Just Killed What Might Be The Biggest Android Ad Fraud Ever

Google has thrown more than 40 apps out of its Play store after it emerged they were quietly forcing Android users to click on ads. As the apps been downloaded as many as 36 million times, security researchers said it appeared to be the biggest ever case of ad fraud perpetrated via Google Play and probably the most successful malware in terms of installs from the official store.

Security firm Check Point revealed the campaign Thursday, claiming a South Korean company, Kiniwini, hid an illegitimate ad clicking function inside 41 apps, most of which were games. Google's Bouncer, a technology designed to keep such so-called "adware" out of its store, wasn't able to pick up on the feature as it was downloaded after installation.

Once the rogue code was added to the apps, they would secretly open webpages in the background, via software that imitated a PC browser. "Once the targeted website is launched, the malware uses the JavaScript code to locate and click on banners from the Google ads infrastructure," Check Point explained. The Korean company would then receive funds for every ad click. Check Point estimated the firm was making millions from the ad clicks, in the region of $300,000 per month.

Check Point also noted that various Kiniwini apps would display "a large amount of advertisements, which in some cases leave users with no option but clicking on the ad itself." And it claimed the oldest version of the malware, which it dubbed "Judy", dated from April 2016, indicating it avoided detection for at least a year.

Check Point claims adware was hidden by South Korean developers inside more than 40 Android apps.

Kiniwini, which also goes by the name ENISTUDIO corp, did not return requests for comment. A post from May 21st on the company's website recognized Google's action to remove the apps. It does not address the allegations made by Check Point or the reason behind the apps' disappearance from Google Play.

Google had not returned a request for comment at the time of publication.

Growing Android fraud problem

According to Android security expert Sergio de los Santos, Judy was symptomatic of a wider problem with such ad fraud targeting Google's platform. "This clicking malware hides very well. They have been undetected for years now, and even now anti-virus products are still not detecting them," said de los Santos, a researcher with Telefonica's ElevenPaths Android security team.

"The reason is because they are not dangerous by themselves in Google Play, but when they are installed they download the payload. This is very tricky and makes all detection techniques fail. And, besides, the only permission they need is access to the internet... it's quite intelligent."

Just earlier this week, Russian security firm Group-IB said it helped law enforcement arrest the gang behind Cron, an Android malware that infected as many as 1 million devices. It would steal bank account logins and intercept authorization codes texted by the bank. Most victims were based in Russia.

As for Americans, the biggest Android malware is known as Marcher, according to the Russian firm. "This trojan was developed by a Russian speaking author in 2014. In the beginning it was used only by one cybercrime gang to attack Russian clients. Then it was advertised on the underground markets," said Dmitri Volkov, co-founder and head of intelligence at Group-IB. That development led to further adoption my other cybercriminals.

But according to Google data, infection numbers for Android devices remain low. In a recent report, it said that the end of 2016 just 0.05% of all Android devices that only downloaded from Google Play were infected with what it calls a "potentially harmful application" (PHA).

3. Predictability

Say what?

Yeah. People like to know when to expect posts from you, what kind of posts, stuff like that.

4. Consistence

Introduction

This tutorial deals with some validations in JavaScript. The tutorial will also cover various examples to demonstrate the validation functionality.

Validations in Javascript

Much of the headache on the part of handling data checking can be reduced by using validations in JavaScript. Validation is a process of checking the data entered on an HTML page by user before sending to the server.

Validation scheme is generally used with forms where various kinds of information is required. If the developer has not used the validation scheme, then he may have a confusing or incomplete data. Because the users will enter the information in a way they like. So, it is better to make arrangements for an organized and complete data before using it. The main idea regarding JavaScript form validation is to provide a method to check the user-entered information before they can even submit it. JavaScript also allows developers to display alerts whenever the information has been left out or entered incorrectly by the user. The alert even contains the solution to correct the mistake conducted by the user.

The below are some area’s where JavaScript validation scheme is useful:

If a text input is all alphanumeric characters (numbers & letters)

This is done with the help of built in properties of JavaScript strings; take the value of input textbox trim it and then check for empty string. If value is not empty show the successful message.

Enable Justify Text Option In WordPress Post Editor In WordPress 4.7, the core developper team decided to make various changes in the editor (TinyMce WYSIWYG), including removing the underline and justify buttons and rearranging some of the toolbar buttons.
If you don’t want to change the way you edit your content and/or don’t want to confuse your customers with a new contribution interface, this very lightweight plugin will set the editor style back to its previous state (like in WordPress 4.6 and above versions).

You may change the Editor style from the Writing option page.

4 options are available for the Editor style :

Default – without underline & justify buttons

Re-add underline & justify buttons

Re-add underline & justify + rearrange

Please note, the third option is, in my opinion, a good compromise between the 4.6 and 4.7 editor versions. It moves up the style select to the first line and moves the underline button after the other text position buttons.

IMPORTANT Some plugins like ACF (free version) are using there own list of buttons and can create conflict with this plugin. Option 3 and 4 are best to prevent this plugin from removing your existing buttons.
